USI Theatre

The University of Southern Indiana Theatre season consists of four main stage productions held in our Performance Center, two student-directed and designed productions held in the Mallette Studio Theatre, and a Freshman showcase designed to give our newest students a space to create and explore. Main stage performances include two musicals and two plays each season.

Student productions are chosen by the student director and presented to the faculty for consideration. Once approved, students oversee every aspect of the show from design to rehearsals and marketing. By working closely with our experienced faculty, our students learn the skills necessary for success in the world of the arts.

Once a year, students have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors in the Repertory Project. Students gain valuable experience and firsthand knowledge from Actors' Equity Association members through workshops, rehearsals, and performances with them in the Repertory Project production.

Our senior showcase in New York City is an opportunity for actors to audition for agencies, preparing them to transition into the workforce.

"I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with dual degrees in Theatre, German, and Pre-Medicine. At USI, I developed a strong foundation in performance, audition techniques, character development, and theatrical production. Through hands-on training in technical theater, set construction, and costume design, I gained a well-rounded understanding of the collaborative nature of the industry."

"I'm currently living in Louisville, KY, and attending grad school at Lesley University to get my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Drama Therapy Specialization! After graduating, I worked as a reporter with 44news. USI prepared me for grad school and reporting, as I had to think on my feet, improvise, memorize standups, and be creative when writing stories!"

"Since graduating, I've been living in Sarasota, Florida, and working at Florida Studio Theatre. I started at FST right after graduation as a summer camp education intern and stayed on to spend the next few months in the literary department. I'm currently back in summer camp as an education fellow and teaching artist."
