Diagnostic Medical Sonography

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the University of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) on recommendation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) in Abdominal-Extended, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Vascular and Adult Cardiac concentrations.

Dietetics Specialty (Food and Nutrition Program)

The Dietetics program at the University of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). ACEND is recognized as the accrediting agency for bachelor level dietetic programs in the United States. Nursing

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and/or post-graduate APRN certificate program at the University of Southern Indiana are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

USI's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

The USI Nursing Programs use the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials for Baccalaureate, Master’s and Doctoral Education as a foundation to offer high quality programs that meet national standards.


Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant
Master of Occupational Therapy (MSOT):

The occupational therapy program has been granted a status of Accreditation-Inactive by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Ave, Suite 501E, North Bethesda, MD 20814. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-6611 and its Web address is www.acoteonline.org. This status indicates that the program is not currently enrolling new students and does not plan to enroll new students in the future. While the program is on Accreditation-Inactive status, the graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapy assistant administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapist. In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.

Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD):

The entry-level occupational therapy doctoral degree program has applied for accreditation and has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814. The program must have a preaccreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Radiologic and Imaging Sciences

As an accredited program, the Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Program is required to meet standards, which can be found on the JRCERT's website: http://www.jrcert.org/programs-faculty/jrcert-standards/. On the JRCERT's website, information about the standards, specific program information, and program effectiveness data can be retrieved. The JRCERT posts information regarding the program's (and other programs') five-year average credentialing examination pass rate, five-year average job placement rate, and program completion rate data. This information can be accessed at www.jrcert.org.

The continuing accreditation status of the program was considered at the February 20, 2018, meeting of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The program was evaluated according to the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiography (2014). The JRCERT awarded the program accreditation for a period of eight years, which is the maximum duration that may be awarded.

The accreditation award was maintained after the Interim report was submitted in 2021 and reviewed in January 2022. The next site visit is tentatively scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.


Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). CoARC's main webpage is www.coarc.com.

CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an "outcomes-based" process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning

JA logoIn support of improving patient care, the University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning (CHPLL) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.

Many of these activities are planned by and for the healthcare team and therefore qualify for Interprofessional Continuing Education Credit (IPCE).
