Clinical Simulation Center Features

Students can reserve time in the Clinical Simulation Center to practice skills and procedures by clicking the "Student Reservation Request" link.

  • Four patient rooms, each with standard hospital equipment (patient monitors, working medical gases, suction, IV pumps and hospital beds).
    • Each room is designed to simulate a different setting: intensive care unit (ICU) room, emergency department room, pediatric/maternity room and post-acute care room.
  • Ceiling mounted cameras and microphones and one-way viewing windows, which allow simulated scenarios to be recorded or streamed live to classrooms.
  • The Clinical Simulation Center has multiple human patient simulator manikins, representing ages from newborn to geriatric.
    • All the simulators have palpable pulses, breathing, breath sounds, cardiac sounds, bowel sounds, urinary bladders and the ability to vocalize either recorded material or live speech. Medical moulage makeup is used to make scenarios more visually realistic.
  • An electronic medical records system for documentation.
  • Realistically stocked "Code Carts."
  • Two medication administration cabinets located at each nurses station.
  • Virtual reality room equipped with MetaQuest 3 headsets.
  • Two Anatomage tables available for faculty and student use.
  • AI utilized for human patient simulator manikins and student interaction.
  • The Clinical Simulation Center is equipped to enable scenarios using standardized patients.

Students can perform the following skills and medical procedures on the human patient simulators:
