The University of Southern Indiana Dental Clinic is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing an excellent experiential learning environment to dental hygiene students while also providing oral healthcare services to the community.

About the USI Dental Clinic

Located on the University's campus in Evansville, Indiana, USI Dental Clinic patients can expect a thorough assessment of their needs, oral health consultation and dental hygiene care and treatment based on the evaluation.

All services are performed by students who are supervised and evaluated by faculty members. Services provided include:

  • Radiographs
  • Prophylaxis (cleaning)
  • Gingivitis scaling
  • Scaling and root planing (deep cleaning)
  • Examination
  • Fluoride therapy
  • Sealants

The USI Dental Clinic does not provide treatments by a dentist, such as extracting teeth, filling teeth or root canal treatment.

Patients can plan on approximately 3.5 hours being devoted to their care. Please keep this in mind when making an appointment. Upon completion of treatment, patients are recommended to make an appointment with their own dentist for an examination and any dental treatment needed.


Medical Evaluation 

If a patient has a medical condition which requires consultation with a physician, treatment may be delayed until written approval for treatment is received from your physician.

Spring Semester (Jan – Apr)
Monday - Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, please call the office within 24 hours at 812-464-1706 to cancel or reschedule. After two missed or cancelled appointments without the appropriate 24-hour notice, you will be dismissed as a patient at this facility.

  • Adults age 60 and older - $30

Veterans receive free treatment with proof of military affiliation and photo identification.

Dental hygiene treatment includes radiographs and sealants, if warranted.

Radiographs and Sealants Only

When requested by a dentist and dental hygiene treatment is not provided, fees are as follows:

  • Full Mouth Series - $25
  • Panoramic - $25
  • Bitewing - $15
  • Sealants - $10 per tooth

Clinic fees are payable on the day treatment is initiated. The following are accepted forms of payment:

  • Visa

The faculty and students at the University of Southern Indiana Dental Hygiene Program are here to provide you with comprehensive dental hygiene care.

As a patient in our clinic, you have the right to expect:

  • To be treated with respect and consideration without discrimination due to race, age, sex, religion, income, or disability.
  • Confidentiality of all information related to your care.
  • A thorough assessment of your needs.
  • To receive complete and current information about your oral health condition and treatment.
  • To be treated as a partner in care, participating in goal setting and planning of treatment including the opportunity to discuss treatment, treatment alternatives, and expected outcomes of treatment with the supervising dental hygiene faculty and the dental hygiene student.
  • To be informed of all aspects of your care and sign an informed consent.
  • To receive treatment that meets the standard of care in the dental hygiene profession which includes dental hygiene care based on your individual needs.
  • To be taught how to achieve and maintain your oral health.
  • Reasonable continuity of care and completion of treatment.
  • Appropriate and timely referrals for other needed services.
  • The University of Southern Indiana Dental Hygiene Program to comply with the infection control guidelines mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Disorderly Conduct

Clinic faculty reserves the right to ask any persons to retire to the reception area if their presence is disrupting the clinical setting and educational experience of the students. If the person(s) in question do not respond appropriately to such request, faculty should call 7777 for intervention deemed necessary from  the University of Southern Indiana Public Safety department.

Patients deemed disruptive to the learning environment may be prohibited from completing treatment in the USI Dental Clinic and dismissed from future care.


The Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education.
