On August 7, our closing experience of the Mid-America Institute on Aging and Wellness (MAIA) is not to be missed.
Join us for a screening of the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary Join or Die, followed by a discussion with the director on the decline of community connections and its impact on social isolation. After the discussion, connect with representatives from regional civic organizations to learn how you can get involved, volunteer, or become a member.

Wesselman Woods is the largest urban old-growth forest in the United States. This National Natural Landmark is home to over four miles of walking trails and a 5-acre Nature Playscape, where guests are invited to explore and play off-trail. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.
Habitat serves families whose income is between 35 and 80 percent of area median income who aspire to own a simple, decent home of their own, and who would not be eligible for traditional financing. Families become homeowners by demonstrating need for housing, ability to pay a 0 %-interest mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat. Build and No-Hammer Volunteers are needed and welcome.
Vanderburgh County CASA’s mission is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy to all abused and neglected children in our community by giving them a voice in county. We work to establish a safe environment where they can live and thrive. We are the fact finders and champion every child deserves! We currently have over 650 children waiting for their champion advocate.
The Sanctuary on the Hill is where Mission First does its work. The Sanctuary is a 92-acre wooded space with a 5 acre lake. We are currently building an Activity Center, Lodge, Cabins, and a horse arena for equine therapy. We are always looking for volunteers, especially in the veteran population to come out and help.

Our mission is to educate members and the general public on horticultural techniques and demonstrate proper gardening, tree and lawn care, and pest control. We provide a service to the community through improving the environment, helping others build and maintain gardens, and empowering the community to a healthy lifestyle through gardening.

We make use of in-kind corporate donations to improve living standards, as well as use our volunteer network to make an impact for the community, individuals, and the environment.
The USI Society for Arts and Humanities enriches the lives of students and provides communication between the community and the University of Southern Indiana's various arts and humanities activities. Supporting the arts can be fun. In addition to personal contributions to University activities, Society members share in a full range of events for personal growth and enjoyment.
