The Elizabeth Zutt Enrichment Scholarship provides funding for workshops, conferences, tours, and travel for full-time USI Art majors.

To be eligible for the Elizabeth Zutt Travel Scholarship, the student must

  • Be majoring in Art (any concentration) or Visual Arts (Teaching)
  • Be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more during the Fall or Spring semester, of travel, or in the subsequent Fall semeser for summer travel

All applicants must be sponsored by an Art & Design faculty member.

  • Estimate a budget including transportation, registration fees, housing (hotel), food, supplies, materials, or other miscellaneous fees involved. If traveling as part of a USI-spnsored tour or trip, see the Faculty Sponsor or Advisor for the trip. For travel and food cost estimate guidelines, please see the USI Travel Procurement page.
  • Estimate financial support available, including student contribution (which should be more than $0.00), parental support, other USI scholarships or grants, and any outside support.
  • If awarded funds, a Form W-9 will be required before funds can be disbursed. Get the form here.

When requesting funds before the travel or event has occured:

Tours and Trips

  • Complete a two- to four-page discussion containing the following:
    • the name of the tour or trip, or, if not an official tour, a list of destinations
    • Three art-related things that you really want to see and study, such as locations like museums, churches; specific works of art; and/or particular artists
    • An explanation of why these things are of particular interest to you and why you want to go on this tour or trip 
    • Research you have done on these topics

Workshops and Conferences

  • A pdf or image of the official brochure or webpage with a short description of the event and a copy of the agenda or schedule of events with the sessions you plan to attend indicated. Assistance with scanning documents is available in the Art & Design office. For virtual events, be prepared to provide the name and url.
  • Complete a two- to four-page discussion on why you wish to attend those sessions and how they might be relevant to your course of study and/or career goals. For example, if the speaker or workshop leader is a well-known artist or art historian, explain why their specialty or abilities are relevant to your interests. If the session is about a particular technique, explain why you want to know more about it.

When requesting funds after the event has occurred:

  • Apply shortly after completion. Applications must be made within the same academic year as the event occured.

For Tours and Trips

  • Complete a two- to four-page discussion containing the following:
    • the name of the tour or trip, or, if not an official tour, a list of destinations
    • Three art-related things that you saw, studied, or experienced, such as locations like museums, churches; specific works of art; and/or particular artists
    • How this tour or trip benefited you, particularly as an art student

For Workshops and Conferences

  • A pdf or image of the official brochure or webpage with a short description of the event and a copy of the agenda or schedule of events with the sessions you attended indicated. Assistance with scanning documents is available in the Art & Design office. For virtual events, be prepared to provide the name and url.
  • Complete a two- to four-page discussion on the sessions you attended. How has this experience benefitted you, particulary as an art student? In place of the essay, you may write a summary page and do a short presentation/demonstration if your faculty sponsor deems it appropriate.
  • For virtual experiences, complete a two- to four-page discusson on new techniques, information, or inspiration you derived from the seminar. Indicate how the experience was delivered, how effective the online platform was, and how you feel your artwork will benefit from the experience.
