Scholarships
We strongly encourage you to explore the numerous scholarships available at USI. There are several scholarships psychology majors qualify for and regularly receive! About: Alex was an energetic and loving student with an infectious smile that could light up the entire hallway of the psychology department. As a 2013 graduate of FJ Reitz High School and a senior psychology major at the University of Southern Indiana, her passion for school and life knew no bounds. This scholarship was created in her honor, to support others in their pursuit of a degree in psychology.
Amount: $1000
Selection Process: Psychology majors will be asked to submit an essay of 500 words or less answering the following question: In your own words, how do you plan to explore your passions through the study of psychology? Faculty review and select the finalists and, when available, Alex's family select the recipient. Essays are accepted until the third Monday in January every Spring semester and can be emailed to usi1psychscholar@usi.edu.
Criteria: Applicants must be of junior or senior standing the semester the scholarship money is received, have a GPA of 2.50 or higher, and must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. A new recipient is chosen each year. This scholarship may not be awarded to a graduating senior.
Amount: $700
Selection Process: Faculty nominate and a committee selects the recipient
Criteria: Non-traditional student who is at least 25 years old who is majoring in sociology, psychology, political science, or history and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship will be used during the student's junior or senior year and is not renewable but may be applied for, and awarded, for a second year. Preference will be given to students with financial need. This scholarship may not be awarded to a graduating senior. The recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year to receive this scholarship.
Amount: $1200
Selection Process: Admissions office selects recipient
Criteria: Recipient must be a resident of Southwestern Indiana, have a high school minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA, a record of participation in extracurricular and community activities and whose majors falls within the social sciences (psychology, sociology, political science, or philosophy). This scholarship may not be awarded to a graduating senior. The recipient must be enrolled during the upcoming academic year to receive this scholarship. Renewable with a 3.0 GPA.
