Pre-Con FlyerPre-Conference: Wednesday, August 6

This year’s MAIA pre-conference is connected to the theme of reducing loneliness. Join us for a FREE Circle of Friends® Facilitator Training.

Attendees will learn how to implement an evidence-based group intervention for older adults experiencing loneliness. Nursing home staff, community members and older adults interested in implementing a Circle of Friends® program are invited to register here.

Circle of Friends is a group created for seniors (age 60+) in need of more social support and connection in their community. The group is initially structured on a 12-week, once a week basis, facilitated by a healthcare professional. The group consists of around eight members who will work with the facilitators to decide which topics and activities are of most interest to them. Each week's activity will fall within the session themes of Exercise and Wellness, Creative Arts and Culture, and Therapeutic Writing and Reflection.

This training is free for participants with support from the USI Bronstein Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness and the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP).
