New in 2026, the Professional Ethics Seminar is moving to a convenient virtual format! Join us for a three-week Lunch & Learn series, with one-hour sessions each week. Designed to spark meaningful discussion and provide tools you can use in your practice. Examine important issues facing healthcare professionals today, including AI in healthcare, vaccines, and moral distress in healthcare and practical resources for recognizing, understanding, and responding to it.

Target Audience

The target audience is for nurses, physicians, and individuals assisting patients and families with healthcare related needs.

Enrollment Cost

$25 per session/$65 for all three sessions

Dr. Stephanie Hirons, USI Assistant Professor of Nursing, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse and a licensed mental health counselor. She holds dual bachelor's degrees in nursing and psychology, a master's degree in mental health counseling, and a doctorate degree in nursing. Dr. Hirons will present "Moral Distress Toolkit for Healthcare Professionals."

Jonathan D. Stallings, PhD, MS
Dr. Jonathan Stallings is the Supervisory Data Scientist at Joint Trauma System where he leads efforts in data analysis and applying advanced statistical methods to improve trauma care. He has an interest in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for medical devices and navigating the regulatory approval process. Dr. Stalling's research explores the use of generative AI to enhance data extraction, medical records review, and routine epidemiological studies.

Ronald Pyle, DO
Dr. Ronald Pyle is the Chair of Pediatrics, Director of Neonatology and Director of Neonatal Transport and Outreach for Deaconess The Women's Hospital. Dr. Pyle is also an adjunct professor of pediatrics with IU School of Medicine.
